Castledown FM operates thanks to a dedicated group of more than 60 local volunteers, including on-air presenters, technical staff, and organisers, all essential to its daily operations.
Originally established as Castledown Radio in 2005, the station was developed under the Integration of Communities Project, supported by EU and DEFRA funding. After building its audience through online streaming, it expanded to FM broadcasting in November 2006.
Based near Tidworth and Ludgershall on the premises of The Wellington Academy, Castledown FM serves as a central hub for the area, offering a varied schedule featuring music from multiple eras, engaging discussions, interactive listener competitions, and interviews. The station also provides updates on upcoming events both locally and beyond, alongside hourly news bulletins.
